Toronto Man Finds Relief After Years of Neuropathy Pain

For years, 68-year-old Toronto resident Ron W. struggled with a relentless pain that made every step feel like walking barefoot on broken glass. Diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy in 2021, Ron cycled through a carousel of medications and devices, including prescription gabapentin and the popular Dr. Ho’s TENS machine, but nothing seemed to touch the burning, tingling agony in his feet.

“It was like my nerves were short-circuiting,” Ron recalls. “Some days, my toes felt numb and dead. Other days, it was this burning sensation that kept me up. I tried every gadget, every pill, but nothing made a real difference. I was starting to lose hope.”

Peripheral neuropathy is a condition caused by damage to the nerves in the hands and feet. The symptoms vary from one person to the next, but usually include persistent tingling, numbness, burning pain, and muscle weakness. Neuropathy can be triggered by a variety of conditions, including diabetes, chemotherapy, and injuries. But sometimes, it is idiopathic, meaning that there is no known cause, and patients are told it’s just old age.

For many, the pain is not only physical but emotional. “I wasn’t able to walk my dogs. Even putting on socks was torture,” Ron says. “The worst part was being told by my doctor that neuropathy was ‘untreatable’ and that all I could do was manage the pain with pills and hope for the best.”

Like many neuropathy sufferers, Ron tried to find alternative solutions. “I tried physiotherapy and it did nothing. I splurged on laser treatments and still, nothing. I used the Dr. Ho’s machine for a while and felt a little tingling, but the pain always came back. I started to think this was just my new normal,” he says.

Everything changed when Ron discovered TLC Medicine, a Toronto clinic specializing in integrative therapies for chronic nerve pain. Their treatments combine acupuncture with modern treatments like ATP Resonance BioTherapy®, which uses microcurrent technology to stimulate nerve repair.

“After my first few sessions at TLC Medicine, I noticed the burning started to fade,” Ron says. “By the end of the first month, I could walk to the corner store without stopping. I even started sleeping through the night again. For the first time in years, I felt like myself.”

Teresa Lau, founder of TLC Medicine, says Ron’s story is not unique. “Many of our patients come to us after being told there’s no solution. They’ve tried the drugs, laser therapy, the Dr. Ho’s machine, physiotherapy, and still no results. We see remarkable improvements by combining ancient acupuncture wisdom with modern bioelectric therapies,” she explains.

TLC Medicine’s approach is personalized, beginning with a comprehensive assessment and a tailored treatment plan. The clinic reports a high success rate in alleviating neuropathy symptoms, helping patients regain mobility and quality of life.

Today, Ron is back to enjoying walking his dogs and looks forward to traveling again. “I wish I’d found TLC Medicine sooner,” he says. “They gave me my life back.”
